SUMMARY:All Roads Lead to Uptown -- Winthrop Family Historical Garden Event
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that Daniel Elston (of Elston Avenue fame) was a brick-making\, beer-brewing\, school-inspecting Alderman originally from Lincolnshire?\n\n\n\nPatrick Touhy\, yeah that Touhy\, was one of a couple of brothers that made their way from Ireland\, before helping to found Rogers Park?\n\n\n\nPlease join the Haitian American Museum of Chicago (HAMOC) and Emerald City Coffee on Saturday August 26 in Winthrop Garden from 11 to 2 as we present the names and histories of 20+ individuals who might not have been born here in Chicago\, or even in America\, but who got here as quickly as they could. It turns out that Chicago just wouldn't have been the same without them. It turns out too\, that you're already slightly familiar with them because they have all been memorialized by the City of Chicago with their names on the streets\, roads and avenues that you've been driving\, walking\, or busing on this whole darn time. Please join us and learn just who they were.\n\n\n\nThere will be Chicago Dogs (Regular and Vegan). There will be Cold Brew (Coffee) and Fruit Punch.
