Uptown United & the 48th Ward invite you to join us this summer for the return of the Argyle Night Market! After 2+ years of a pandemic, we ask for your patience as we rebuild Argyle and the Market. Our small businesses continue to face difficulties and staffing challenges, which could mean fewer vendors at the market this year. Don’t fret! Our Argyle businesses are open! They are ready for you to order ahead and stop by in person every Thursday evening so let’s show them some community support. The market will continue to feature weekly live entertainment including a diverse offering of musical acts and cultural performances.

WHAT’S NEW IN 2022?!

ARGYLE NIGHT MARKET BEER GARDEN – The Uptown Chamber of Commerce will be selling cans of beer and wine at this year’s market within the beer garden near the stage.

NEW this summer to Argyle Street are trellised alfresco dining areas which will provide more seating than ever before! They offer the perfect spot to sit, eat, and enjoy the event with your friends and family.

ABOUT THE MARKET:

Started in 2013, the Argyle Night Market is an annual event that features food from local Argyle restaurants plus live cultural and musical performances on Thursday evenings each summer. Part market, part street festival, this vibrant and award-winning event is located on Argyle, the city’s first shared street. This event is hosted by Uptown United and the 48th Ward office, in partnership with the 20th District of the Chicago Police Department.

In addition to the delicious Asian street food that can be found at the night market, a highlight for our guests is the live cultural and musical performances being offered weekly. In partnership with Elastic Arts, we are able to bring live music, dance, and the arts to Uptown so that all are able to participate as audience or performers without regard to economic status. As this is a free event, our goal is to make sure that people from every race and from every socioeconomic background feel welcome at the market. This partnership allows us to support a number of established artists who perform as headliners each night as well as performers from the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community including Japanese taiko drummers, Balinese Gamelan performers, Vietnamese lion dancers, Pacific Islander musicians, and youth circus performers!
